Walnut Federal Style Jewelry Box with sand shaded inlaid Fans and Oval. Our beautiful Federal Jewelry Box is made from select figured Walnut, Maple, Holly, Gaboon Ebony, and dyed veneers. The featured top has inlaid Federal Fans and Ovals, which are sand shaded using centuries old methods, and are inlaid by hand. The box has a hand shaped Gaboon Ebony pull, which is mortised into the front of the lid. The lid is supported with high precision machined hinges, ensuring accurate alignment, proper function, and durability. The inner tray is made from Maple, and the joinery is reinforced with Walnut dowels, to add strength to the tray, and a touch of contrast, while staying with the color scheme of the box. The jewelry box and tray interior bottoms are lined with fine leather The box sides have an inlaid contrasting Maple spline on each corner for added strength and aesthetics. However, through handcut dovetails are an option on this box to stay with the Federal theme. The finish is an oil-varnish blend with wax, producing a satin sheen to give a warm, silk like feel, inviting to the touch.
